Maybe they just felt that Eclare was threatened by them and resent him? I have no idea. I like Eli/Clare, but I never resented Jake. He gave me no reason to dislike him. He treated Clare well and is a good friend to people. 

I wish that they’d give him more to do, though!! So far he kind of is unfortunately fitting the bill of “character brought on solely as a love interest/plot device” and I really wish that they’d do more with him. He’s a unique character but at the same time I don’t really understand him, but I’d like to. 

stop wasting characters. plz.
